Workshops and MAA sessions scheduled for MathFest in Denver (August 2-4, 2018) and the Joint Math Meetings in Baltimore (January 16-19, 2019).

MathFest- Denver:

1 There is a minicourse “An Introduction to WeBWorK: An Open Source Alternative for Generating and Delivering Online Homework Problems” at Mathfest. Friday 4- 6pm and Saturday 4-6pm led by John Travis, Robin Cruz and Tim Flowers. (https://www.maa.org/node/1301553/)
2 WeBWorK will have a table in the MAA’s booth at Mathfest. If you would like to help out contact John Travis travis@mc.edu. There is usually an informal WeBWorK gathering at a local brewpub one evening during Mathfest (and JMM). Check in at the WeBWorK table for information -- all are invited.

JMM - Baltimore:

1 The minicourse “Advanced Authoring in WeBWorK: Turn good math problems into great ones & submit them to the OPL” will be offered on Wed 2:14-4:15 and Friday 1 -3pm, led by K. Andrew Parker, Samar ElHitti, Marianna Bonanome, and Michael Gage. Register when you register for JMM ($100 fee). (Details at http://webwork.maa.org/moodle/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=4449)

2 The MAA session on “Open Educational Resources: Combining Technological Tools and Innovative Practices to Improve Student Learning” will be Friday January 18, 2019 from 8am to 11am. Abstracts are due: September 25, 2019. (Details are posted on the forum at http://webwork.maa.org/moodle/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=4448)

3 There will be a WeBWorK table in the MAA booth at JMM as well.

4 There will be an informal WeBWorK symposium (check out the original meaning of symposium) at a local brewpub. Check with the WeBWorK table for news on time and place.
