Sorry for the long delay on this; I was waffling on how to deal with it.  I've
updated the problem with a hint that clarifies that it is possible to pick
points from the given figure that allows an exact answer.  This doesn't relax
the required tolerance, but does clarify that the expected solution method
should be accurate, which is consistent with the given solution.
