Dr. Melanie G. Watson received her Ph.D. from Louisiana Tech University in 2010. Her research focused on the surface morphology of platelet adhesions as influenced by chemical activators, inhibitors and shear stress. She seeks collaboration with cancer metastasis experts for an in depth investigation of platelets adhered to tumor cells leading to further metastasis and colonization. She is also interested in Engineering Education dealing specifically with “early and often” exposure to science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts to elementary, secondary, and post-secondary students. She currently serves as the LA-SiGMA Outreach and Assessment Coordinator, Student Success Specialist and Engineering Lecturer. She was recently promoted to Visiting Assistant Professor in Louisiana Tech’s College of Engineering and Science multidisciplinary field and will start this position in the fall.
