I've tracked down the problem.  It is indeed related to the problem that we ran
into at Raleigh.

If an instructor is specifically allowed to see paths then this appears when
the problem is rerandomized.  As it happens both 'gage' and 'profa' were given
this permission in the PRINT_FILE_NAMES_FOR  It remains to determine why the
path does not appear for these individuals the first time the problem is shown.
