All,

I'm an SA working with the Math dept to put Webwork in place. My supervisor installed version 1.8 (linux) and one of our Professors added a problem set he received from a peer. Thanks in advance for any help with this. We receive the following output in our web browser when trying to do a problem set:

Problem0 ERROR caught by PGtranslator while processing problem file: *

There were problems compiling the file: /usr/local/webwork/system/courseScripts/dangerousMacros.pl Bareword "Complex::i" not allowed while "strict subs" in use at /usr/local/webwork/system/courseScripts/dangerousMacros.pl line 1224.

ERROR: This problem file was empty!

Noel,

Check the permission on the directory. I got the same error when the directory with the problems somehow had the wrong permission for the group.

You want "chmod g+rwx dir_name" or something like that.

Hi Noel,

Is this an error that you get all the time or just with a particular problem. Can you view any of the problems? Are you in the process of installing WeBWorK or do you have it running?

Arnie
