How can I easily download the problem library? Is there a way to have access to the problem library when I am in the Library Browser as the instructor. Sorry if I have missed something but I just don't seem to be able to get an electronic form of the problems.

The problem collection from the University of Rochester is available as a tarball as described at http://webhost.math.rochester.edu/webworkdocs/discuss/msgReader$0003269

Another method is to download the collection of problems from the CVS as described at http://devel.webwork.rochester.edu/twiki/bin/view/Webwork/WeBWorKCVS. This makes it easy to update as problems are corrected.

Another method to view problems in the rochester library and others is to use the Problem Library link to the left. You can also get pdf files of all of the problems in a given set and the source code for individual problems. (The source code is set via email, problem by problem, so this is not a good way to obtain the entire collection.)

Hi,

The Problem Library button in the Library Browser refers to a collection of problems which have been indexed into a mysql database. Various threads on this board have reported that the setup procedure for this is broken. I think it is now fixed and the set of problems involved has increased. It is still a work in progress. The problem files themselves have some overlap with the Rochester problem library. One goal is to completely reconcile these collections of problems.

At some point (hopefully this summer), we will have an upgrade in this component. Using the upgrade will require a latest version of webwork, but I thought I should post a version which works with current webwork installations (almost any copy of webwork 2).

Getting back to your question, to make the Problem Library button active, you have to do some setup. First, go to http://hobbes.la.asu.edu/webwork-stuff . Near the top are links with instructions for setting up a mysql database and a tarball to download. The instructions involve some settings in global.conf, some mysql commands to run as the root user of mysql, and a script to run.

Feel free to post here if there are problems with the current installation of the Problem Library database.
