Does anyone have a method of adding aliases to the Units for use with parserNumberWithUnits?

For example, ml is an acceptable unit, but mL is not, and this annoys my students. So I'd like mL to pass as an alias for ml.

More generally, I'd like to make strings like say "foot" or "feet" count as aliases for "ft". If I undefine ".", I'd even like to see if "ft." can be used as an alias for "ft".
