Does anyone know of a successful intallation of WeBWorK on a Solaris platform? I understand that this is a restricted version of Unix. The systems people here are unwilling to try to install WeBWorK unless someone else has already been successful in doing so on a Solaris machine.

Yes. Indiana, Rutgers, Hartford, and Michigan run WeBWorK under Solaris. There are probably other sites that also use Solaris, but these I know of off the top of my head. Look at the page
http://webhost.math.rochester.edu/webworkdocs/sites/systems/

There should be no problem with the WeBWorK code itself, but getting proper and working versions of some of the required graphics routines and Latex2html can be a bit tricky. We can give you contacts at the above sites if you run into problems. If and when we recieve more precise information from Solaris users about installation questions, we we post it at the above page. Even through you will do a SAolaris installation, look at the RedHat guide since that is the most detailed guide.
