We just installed v.1.7 on Debian (woody). The installation went smoothly (all required packages comes with Debian), however we had one minor issue: When I view problems in typeset mode I get a black border on the left- and bottom sides of the image generated by latex2html. This doesn't look too attractive. Is there any way of getting rid of this? The version of latex2html included with this distribution of Debian is 2000-beta1-3.1.

Lars.

This is a well know problem with latex2html which is caused by using an old version of netpbm. There is however an easy patch which allows the use of old versions of netpbm. This is actually covered in the WeBWorK setup documentation for version 1.7. For more detailed information search for "black borders" in the Search box to the left.

Arnie, thanks for the link. My version of netpbm is 9.20 - not an old one. However, I followed the directions in your link, and added the -sides flag to $croparg, and apparently it fixed the problem.

Lars.
