We just recently completed installation of WW2 and I've been getting acquainted with its features. I've encountered two problems.

When I go the Instructor Tools page and try to sort a class list by section and display only those students in a particular section, the display window comes up empty.

The second problem concerns the Show Past Answers feature. Any attempt to use this feature generates the following error:

Can't open the access log /opt/webwork2/courses/M144Pollina/logs/answer_log

I've tried adjusting the permissions, but to no avail.

Has any one encountered either of these issues? Any help would be appreciated.

Ben

As a workaround for the second problem. Go to /opt/webwork2/courses/M144Pollina/logs.

Make sure that the webserver has execute access for all directories enclosing the directory /opt/webwork2/courses/M144Pollina/logs. and that it has write access for this directory.

It's possible that the webserver does not automatically create the answer_log file. You can workaround this by typing

echo "" >answer_log

in the directory /opt/webwork2/courses/M144Pollina/logs

Make sure that the file /opt/webwork2/courses/M144Pollina/logs/answer_log

can be written to by the webserver.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you isolate the problem.

Mike,

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

I figured out the first problem. I used a time (8:30) to designate a section. Once I removed the colon, everything worked fine.

Mike,

The answer_log problem is not a problem at all. Without realizing it, I was testing it on a set that was closed, and so answers were not being recorded. Once I corrected that, it worked fine, although I did notice that if I type in an answer of 0, WW recorded it as empty.
