Having trouble with problems that use applets. In this case, the file phaseLine.swf is present on our server at webwork2/htdocs/applets

It can't find the applet file.  

The file is in OpenProblemLibrary/CSUOhio/htdocs/applets/phaseLine.swf.

If you run    sudo -E webwork2/bin/OPL-update 
the database for the library will be updated and links to the CSU applets will be automatically installed in  webwork2/htdocs/applets (which is addressed by the url .../webwork2_files/applets   )

Thanks, but I don't understand your answer. As I posted, the file (or a link to it) already exists in webwork2/htdocs/applets.

Hmm.  Sorry, I missed that comment.  

I still think there is something wrong with that file or link.  If you try to download the .swf file directly using the browser can you get the file?  Could it be a link that isn't pointing to the correct file?

When I point my browser to

some applet loads. I see a number line from -10 to 10, along with other stuff.

Hello,

We are also having a similar problem with the NPL Applet from CSUOhio.  This is apparent in trying to create problems or load the CSUOhio/appletDemonstationProblems in the Library Browser.

I'll paste the error below, but I found the reason for the problem.  I copied our WebWork server to a test server and removed forced https (redirect http to https) traffic.  As soon as I tried to view the library over just http versus https it loaded fine.  If I manually added https back in, it stopped working.

Again, just to confirm, the files are there, you can actually browse to the applets directly over https and they load fine.  I have tried OPL-Update and setfilepermissions scripts, checked my modules, etc.  They only do not load when embedded/loaded into another page of https, but do load on http.

The CSUOhio applet library is the only error we have run across so far, everything else has been fine, but given the number of libraries, I am sure there might be others (maybe the flash based ones) that have the same problem.

I should also mention we are on Webwork 2.8 and pg 2.8.  Happy to provide other server related version stats if needed.

You may want to check the portion of your site.conf shown below. On our server, lwp-request is in /usr/local/bin. Once we fixed the path, applets were found as needed by WW.

                                        I think I figured this out for us, the https cert we were using needed to have an intermediate chain cert (Entrust for us) set in sites-enabled conf for webwork.  Just posting this on the off-chance it helps someone else.
