Many of my students will work offline after a quick login to print their version of an assignment. A hardcopy produced in that context has NO student answers to printed and the Show Student Answers checkbox should be deselected by them.
I produce a PDF for most draft versions of an assignment, followed by an archival PDF for each published assignment. I have never wanted empty bullet-points for nonexistent student answers. (I estimate I uncheck that SSA box about 400--600 times each year.)
I would like to change default behavior for Show Student Answers to have its checkbox be unchecked. How can I do that? (indeed, I suggest UNchecked be the default for every standard installation.)
