Is there a way to disable access to a WebWork course for certain students for a short period of time?

The easiest way is probably to change their status to "dropped". You can change it back to "enrolled" when you want to restore their access.

I don't know if this will work if you are using LTI for authentication (through your school's Learning Management System), as the LTI code may override this based on the students being active in the LMS.

If you want to disable access for all students temporarily you can change the permission level "Allowed to login to the course" to something higher than student. This can be found in the "Permissions" tab of the Course Configuration page. Just make sure that you don't set it to something higher than professor or you risk locking yourself out of the course.

I am using an LTI, but your last suggestion worked perfectly. To open the system to just one student, I was able to raise their permission level ever so slightly. Thanks!
