Authentication using Azure AD or SAML2 - anyone using it?

Authentication using Azure AD or SAML2 - anyone using it?

Hello folks.

We have our webwork using AD for authentication and with moodle single sign on.

As an organization, we have decided to get out of on-premise AD and use Azure AD instead.

Has anyone used Azure AD as an authentication and LTI use?

Thoughts?

Thank you

I know this is a super old post. Does anyone have any instructions for linking Webwork to do external authentication with Entra ID(Azure AD)

Thank you.

If it's a standard AD implementation I would expect that the LDAP module would work.  Have you tried using the sample config in authen_ldap.conf.dist?

Hi Danny,

Management on my end would love to get away from LDAP and use SAML instead.

Thanks,

Ryan

Right now there isn't a module to do SAML authentication with WeBWorK.  I know that there is interest in this and people are investigating, but there's no guarantee that it will be implemented any time soon.

Entra ID supports LDAP authentication: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/architecture/auth-ldap, so with the current version of WeBWorK this is the only way I know to hook into Entra ID.  Perhaps others have better solutions.
