Gateway Test Settings

Good Morning -

Our team is wanting to do a two part assessment of students. They are planning to use the Gateway Test format. Is there a way that even if a student gets 0 correct answers in the first part that they would then get the second part?

They would like to basically only present part 2, once part 1 is submitted  (or the time elapsed)

The conditional release feature is built to check a student's recorded score on a previous set to determine if they are able to access the current set. Until a student submits it will count that score as 0, so it's not really designed to do what you describe.

One possible workaround is to add an extra question to the first part of the assessment that they will always get right, and use that to set the conditional release threshold, though this wouldn't handle the case where a student runs out of time without submitting.

Is there a way to force submit when the time runs out. For example, Part 1 is 60 minutes.

What version of WeBWorK are you using?

If you are using WeBWorK 2.17 and set the $gatewayGracePeriod to 10, then the quiz will automatically submit when time runs out.  Note that there is a 10 second leeway built into the javascript to (hopefully) ensure that the submission occurs before the grace period actually ends.

I have been told that we will be using an instance of WeBWork 2.17 for this project.
