I understand why it is good to save the responses of students from one WeBWork session to the next, but why save them for practice users? If someone was going to have practice users available for students to get extra practice, wouldn't it be better if a student did not see the responses from the previous person who logged in as that particular practice user?

This has changed in version 1.7. In 1.7, on the welcomeAction page (not on the processProblem8.pl page) there is a checkbox: "Show my old answers." For regular users before the answer date, this box is checked (users can uncheck it) which means by default WeBWorK works just as in version 1.6. For practice users all the time and for regular users after the answer date, this box is unchecked (users can check it) which means that by default old answers are not filled in.
