I've gotten MathML working in WeBWorK. It only works with Internet Explorer (version 6.x) with the MathPlayer plugin installed (together with an appropriate set of fonts). To see it in action, go to the following link: https://webwork2.math.ohio-state.edu/courses/math152au03zf/ and log in as practice1, practice2, etc with any nonempty password. The modifications to WeBWorK required to make this work are very modest. Basically one changes formatted-text mode, which uses Ian Hutchinson's tth conversion program, to use his ttm convertor to MathML instead. The output of ttm is then processed by a tiny Perl script, which makes minor text substitutions of the form <math> --> <m:math> and the like. One also needs to make slight modifications to processProblem8.pl to output an html header which designates MathPlayer as the appropriate plugin to handle math constructions. Finally one needs to add \begin{document} to the tthPreamble.tex file in the course templates directory. |
