I am running WW1.9 on a RH9 server.  When I do a problem set and try to display it using typeset, I get compiler warnings; text and formatted-text seem ok.

display using typeset

Compiler warnings:

Hi Kevin,

First of all I would concentrate on getting typeset2 working since that is the much prefered mode.

Next question? Did this ever work or is this a new installation?  Look at the discussion in http://webhost.math.rochester.edu/webworkdocs/discuss/msgReader$2164 which gives hints on debugging (your problem is probably different but the debugging procedure will be similar).

This is a new install.

Did you follow the instructions in http://webhost.math.rochester.edu/webworkdocs/discuss/msgReader$1656 ?

Is LaTeX installed and working properly?

Note that the call

    /usr/bin/dvipng -x4000 -bgTransparent -Q6 -mode toshiba -D180 professor-prob5image.dvi

is appropriate for a 0.x dvipng, while the intended resolution in 1.0 dvipng (and later) will be obtained by

    /usr/bin/dvipng -bgTransparent -D120 professor-prob5image.dvi
