Anyone have any input on the question of making graphics?

The immediate question is, if I can graph a direction field in a software package (in my case, ODE Architect, which comes with the book), how do I make it into a .gif file that I can call from a problem? All I can figure out how to do is "Paste" into MSWord so far, but there must be a way to make a .gif file directly once you can "Copy". I can also copy images from, for example, the solution manual.

The answer to this question is going to depend on the platform. On the macintosh I use the freeware program clip2gif by by Yves Piguet which you can find at

http://macinfo.its.queensu.ca/MacSDistribution/Clip2Gif.html
